Tango Moderno at Oxford’s New Theatre, is simply great!
It’s a great piece of family entertainment for all ages. It reminds me of the music and dance shows based on the particular theme, so sadly no more broadcast on TV.
This show was packed full of irony, humour and social comment and was greeted by an audience of all ages with great enthusiasm.
The message of the evening was how song and dance could only people love and companionship, and that perhaps our fixation with social media was in fact harder to make friends.
There were series of entertaining routines, including keeping up with the neighbours, fixated with smartphones and partying, ably performed by the dance company and accompanied by singers Tom Parsons and Rebecca Lisewki.
As for the professional dancers Vincent Simone and Flavia Cacace, who have appeared on the TV programme “Strictly Come Dancing”. I must say they were simply fantastic. I especially liked their dance steps, particulars poise, and posture, which demonstrated this sheer professionalism and passion they have.
Tango Moderno opened at Oxford’s New Theatre on Tuesday and at the end of the show, the leading performers and dance company greeted with standing ovations, which were well deserved.
Vincent and Flavia have become one of the country’s most successful Ballroom, Latin
American and Argentine Tango performers and choreographers. Their professional titles include: UK Professional Ten Dance champions 2002-2006 – UK
Professional Show Dance champions 2003-2006 – UK Argentine Tango champions 2006 (first
time the competition has ever been held) – World Argentine Tango Show champions
2005/2006 – UK Ballroom champions for several years – World and European Ten Dance and
Show Dance finalists 2002-2006.
