If you are looking for a good night out, with a touch of panto and carry on, plus some great upbeat music from the 1980’s then Club Tropicana the musical is for you. This musical is packed with fun, love and political incorrectness. Although some in the audience did not appreciate some of the dirtier jokes.
What is it about?
The show is set in the vibrant Club Tropicana Hotel- the 1980’s answer to Love Island, where the drinks are free and the whole family is invited to join the ultimate holiday musical, celebrating all that we love about 80s music.
The show opens with a groom waiting for his bride to turn-up, but is told by his bride to be the wedding is off. At this point, the church congregation dances along to the songs ‘Don’t You Want Me Baby’ and ‘Don’t Leave Me This Way’, while the bridal party comforts their friend. They decide not to waste the honeymoon trip and head off to the airport. As a result of the groom and his mates, along with the bridal party, arrive separately at the Club Tropicana hotel with no knowledge of each other. At the same time, the hotel staff is expecting a hotel inspector to arrive, well to find out more you will have to see the show.
It stars Joe McElderry (X Factor winner and star of Joseph and his Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat), Neil McDermott (EastEnders, The Sound of Music), Kate Robbins (Spitting Image, Dinner ladies), Emily Tierney (Wicked, The Wizard of Oz) and former Sugababe star Amelle Berrabah, making her musical theatre debut.
The show is packed with great songs of the era including Just Can’t Get Enough; Take on Me, The Look of Love, Girls Just Wanna Have Fun, Relax and many more!
The staging and outfits gave us an impression of an ’80s package holiday, with colourful enthusiasm. Club Tropicana is an enjoyable evening and a chance to hear some classic 1980’s hits.
Club Tropicana is on a nationwide tour.
