With 80 new brands following a £3 million refurbishment

On Thursday 22nd September, Camp Hopson Department Store in Newbury will open its doors following a major £3 million redevelopment, bringing over 80 new brands to store, complementing the already extensive brand mix including Jo Malone, Bobbi Brown, Longchamp, Polo Ralph Lauren and Hugo Boss.

The substantial redevelopment encompasses the 40,000 sq. ft. Northbrook Street Department Store dedicated to fashion, men’s, beauty and accessories brands, alongside the recently re-developed 22,000 sq. ft. Camp Hopson Home Store offering furniture, beds, carpets and homeware brands.

The new shopping environment will boast bright and airy interiors, providing a contemporary space catering to the needs of the 21st Century shopper, whilst externally remaining sympathetic to its heritage, dating back to 1921.

The renovation will see the launch of an impressive Beauty Hall, featuring a number of exclusive brands to Newbury such as Jo Malone, Bobbi Brown and Origins, as well as an all-new Beauty Room, complete with a Brow Bar and Nail Bar. Also on the Ground Floor will be fashion accessory brands including Longchamp, Aspinal and The Watch Station, together with an extensive Footwear Department, housing brands such as Dune and Van Dal.

Camp Hopson will feature the largest number of menswear brands under one roof in town, including Polo Ralph Lauren, Boss, Gant, Tommy Hilfiger, Thomas Pink and Moss Bros, as well as Barbour, Ted Baker and other favourites.

On the First Floor, Womenswear will also see a dramatic increase of new brands including Hobbs, Masai, Calvin Klein, White Stuff, Benetton and Tommy Hilfiger, set to compliment the brand new lingerie department. Following numerous customer requests, Childrenswear and Toys will also make a welcome return to Camp Hopson.

The Second Floor sees a brand new restaurant Angelica’s Terrace Café, offering a wide range of hot and cold foods, from breakfast to afternoon tea, set in a light, modern space.

Bernard Dreesmann, Chairman of Morleys Stores, comments:

“We are all delighted to announce the re launch of our department Store “Camp Hopson” following on from the successful reopening of “Camp Hopson Home”.

We have set out to create a great customer experience providing exciting new products and brands in a light, fresh and contemporary environment with well-trained, knowledgeable and friendly staff.

The journey is only just beginning and our Customers will see many new brands and services in the months ahead and we look forward to building on the excellent “Camp Hopson” Brand that was established over many generations.”

David Shotton, Senior Store Manager of Camp Hopson, adds:

“We are really excited about the completion of this 12-month redevelopment, and the re-launch of Camp Hopson this September. This major redevelopment will be a great boost for the town, not only in its creation of new jobs for the area, but also in providing Newbury with a more diverse shopping experience through choice.”

The store will launch with a special event at 10am on Thursday 22nd September, with local MP Richard Benyon cutting the ribbon, followed by a series of exclusive offers, demonstrations and entertainment throughout the weekend.

Morleys Stores Ltd acquired Camp Hopson in November 2014; the substantial redevelopment marks an important milestone in Morley’s commitment to the re-establishment of Camp Hopson as Newbury’s premier department store. The eight-strong group comprises branches in Wimbledon, Brixton, Islington, Enfield, Upminster, Ilford and Tooting, together with Newbury. http://www.camphopson.co.uk/
