Writing Tips for Businesses – (Publication of new book)
For any business struggling to get their message across, who wants to grab more customers and differentiate themselves from their competitors, a new business book should be of value.
Business Writing Tips: For Easy and Effective Results, is a handbook of 170 ‘punchy tips’ to help businesses with all kinds of writing jobs at work.
Author Robert Bullard is a copywriter, editor, proofreader and trainer in writing skills – and a former feature writer for the Guardian and Daily Telegraph.
“I have been helping businesses with all kinds of writing jobs since 2004 – from brochures to web text, from case studies to reports,” says Robert. “I know they like things clear and simple, and are often short of money and time. My book’s approach has them in mind.”
The book shows readers, for example, ways to grab readers’ attention; how to write web text and press releases; and a steer through rules of punctuation and grammar.
In addition to 170 tips (10 per chapter), there are exercises; key points; and example texts, with commentaries.
The book has been endorsed by two of the county’s senior business leaders.
Vice-President of the Oxfordshire Chamber of Commerce, Bob Bradley, who is also Managing Director of the business networking group, MD2MD, said: “It is a readable, practical and usable book. I can certainly recommend it for marketing, sales or internal communications.”
Meanwhile, Timon Colegrove, CEO of the Kidlington based firm Hunts, and also chair of the Oxfordshire Institute of Directors, said: “Robert uses his years of rich experience to give businesses the confidence to write, as well as practical guidance and tips, plus tools and ideas.”
Robert dedicates the book to the county council library service, saying: “I have always been a fan of libraries, not just for their books, facilities and helpful staff, but as a place for anyone to escape, learn and grow.”
